Tuesday morning’s rush hour has been a slow go for motorists as snow-covered streets and highways make getting around Montreal difficult.
And it could get even more complicated later in the day as the snow turns to freezing rain and then rain. Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Montreal and surrounding areas, saying that as much as 20 millimetres of freezing precipitation could fall in some areas.
Motorists and pedestrians should be extra careful on their commute as the weather will make surfaces extremely slippery. The forecast calls for a high of 0 degrees C on Tuesday, and the rain/snow is expected to end around midnight. Total snow accumulation could hit 10 centimetres. The Société de Transport de Montréal warned of delays across its bus network because of the bad weather.
